We are thrilled to announce the launch of our new drafting capabilities. This release is designed to significantly enhance the efficiency and precision of legal document creation, upping the standard for AI-generated legal drafting.

Why Augment Legal Drafting

The driving force behind developing these capabilities is to address the complex needs that top-notch plaintiffs lawyers have when creating new legal documents such as complaints or demand letters. Legal teams need to draft complex documents with detailed and nuanced legal arguments - and they want to do this using their own tone and style. And although core AI capabilities can speed up some parts of legal drafting, it hasn’t historically been able to create second-draft worthy content efficiently.

The issues with “traditional” or basic AI drafting

Through talking with customers and prospects we identified a significant gap in the market for specialized, AI-powered drafting tools. "Traditional" methods of legal AI drafting typically involve drafting from scratch - and devoting significant time to editing and iterating on documents to match the standards and quality of a firm's or individual’s work. Alternatively, drafting using templates and form-fills can lead to a loss of quality and nuance needed for complex legal documents - especially for ones highly dependent on case fact patterns such as discovery responses. The inefficiency and loss of quality is exacerbated by non-specialized tools and lack of AI training, requiring users to spend extra time reviewing and re-drafting content.

Our new drafting capabilities are engineered to address these specific pain points, ensuring that the document Eve produces meets the highest standards of legal precision, minimizing the effort needed to review AI-generated content and move from first to final draft.

Introducing the new Drafting in Eve features

“Blueprints” is Eve's new platform for drafting - allowing users to create new content using their preferred structure, tone and style. Unlike standard templates, Blueprints dynamically adjusts to incorporate the nuances of your legal documents: your logical reasoning style, your writing tone, your document's structure, even your formatting. This approach not only ensures precision but also maintains the personal touch that is often lost in automated drafting. With Blueprints, you can efficiently produce documents that are both high in quality and tailored to your practice, streamlining your workflow and improving client satisfaction. Blueprints is tailored for key legal documents created during the plaintiff’s case lifecycle: Case Overviews, Demand Letters, Complaints, Mediation Statements, and Discovery Responses - using best-in-class training data to help create better quality results.

We've also introduced "In-Line Editing" with Eve, a way to enhance the user's control over the drafting process. This tool allows users to make real-time edits directly within the document as it is being created by the AI. It ensures that any adjustments needed to match the specific legal standards or stylistic preferences of the firm are seamlessly integrated without disrupting the drafting flow. This capability not only increases the quality of the final document but also significantly reduces the time spent on revisions. Users also have the ability to work simultaneously on drafting and redrafting, while finding key facts and performing analysis with Eve in the core chat capabilities.

What AI-Powered Drafting does for legal teams

The impact of these new capabilities extends beyond mere convenience. By automating and refining the drafting process, we empower legal teams to focus more on the strategic aspects of law, such as negotiation and litigation, while maintaining confidence in the reliability of the documents produced. This enhances our client’s service offering, and provides them with a competitive edge in their legal proceedings. Importantly, this opens the door for firms to be able to take on more cases, ones that they didn’t have the bandwidth for before - delivering value to the firm and providing improved access to legal services for those in need of it.

Looking at the future

At Eve, we are committed to continuous improvement and innovation. The introduction of these drafting capabilities is just one of the many ways we are evolving to meet and exceed the expectations of those we serve. We look forward to the positive changes this will bring to legal practices and the success of our clients.
